Takayuki Miyoshi

Takayuki Miyoshi is a prolific WordPress plugin developer and the creator of Contact Form 7. He is based in Fukuoka, Japan, which is known as the birth place of Wapuu.

He has suggested calling Fukuoka “Wapuutopia”, but few people have shown interest in this idea.

And who hasn’t heard of Contact Form 7? This plugin is one of the oldest and most popular plugins ever built, with well over 3 million active installs and a total of 57 million downloads. Mind. Blown.

Tayauki will be speaking on “Lessons Learned from Ten Years of Plugin Development”.

His career in WordPress plugin development started in 2006. It was the age of Web 2.0, mashups, and Ajax fever, but no one had an iPhone yet. 2.0 was the latest version of WordPress. At that time, it didn’t even natively support widgets, menus, or shortcode API. The WordPress Plugin Directory didn’t exist yet. Since then, Takayuki learned a lot of important things through the experience of plugin development. Some of these lessons include how to design a WordPress plugin, how to add a feature, what user feedback is like and how to react to it, how to write an FAQ, and many other interesting and entertaining examples.

Takayuki was kind enough to do a short interview with us: https://2017.colombo.wordcamp.org/2017/05/30/a-conversation-with-takayuki-miyoshi/
